Is this the same as a hunting safari or trophy hunt?

No, interested people must be aware that this is not a hunting safari! It is a possibility for lovers of nature, outdoor living and hunting to get in touch with like-minded people and to further develop their knowledge and skills about the sustainable use of natural resources. It focuses on the sustainable use of other than trophy animals because of the economic value of their meat and other animal products. The further development of this knowledge and understanding in the western world is of great importance for the future possibilities of developing countries.

Why should I do this practical course?

In order to actually translate this new approach and this new business plan into the development of a new market for our farm, we would like to transfer this approach to potential customers in practice. Only in this way can you become acquainted with this new, sustainable method of game farming and you will really appreciate our approach. With this conviction, Lentegeur Wildlife has developed an adventurous and unforgettable total package in which this new approach can be experienced in practice. In addition, as a student, you have a unique opportunity to gain a unique hands-on experience in the beautiful African landscape and through direct interaction with its residents, which you will never forget!

Why is it called a PRACTICAL course?

The concept means that as little time as possible will be spent on "formal" theoretical knowledge transfer, but that a lot will be spoken and learned during hands-on practice actions in different practical situations and practical exercises. Game farming is simply an industry that mainly takes place outside in practice. In order to give you, as a student, the right starting points and the right knowledge in that situation, we will also put you in practice in the daily practice of game farming. Only in this way can you really get to know the different aspects and learn why this new sustainable approach is needed.

But are we really going to shoot animals?

Yes, part of game farming is the harvesting of animals. That is also reflected in this practical course. That is one of the options we have to recoup the investment we have made in our animals and to ensure the continuation of the farm. All practical parts, including the actual shooting of one or more animals, take place at our farm.

Which animals will we harvest?

Lentegeur Wildlife harvest animals all year round. Which type of animal, sex and how many animals are shot, is determined by the owner and depends entirely on the season, the state of the management program and the size of the group. On average, 4 to 5 smaller antelope species and 1 larger type of animal are harvested per week. The most common species that are harvested with us are the blue wildebeest and the impala. Harvesting of other species also occurs, but less often. Furthermore, warthogs are also shot with some regularity, and problem animals such as the jackal are also free. Every student is given the opportunity to harvest animals!

If you wish, you are free to have the mementos of the animals you have harvested prepared and sent to your home address. We are happy to assist you here. Costs for taxidermy and the shipping of your mementos are not included.

And should I bring my own weapon for that?

Bringing your own weapons is not necessary for this course. We have all the necessary weapons / ammunition and you will have ample opportunity to familiarize yourself with expert guidance. You will also be guided during harvesting.

It is of course possible and allowed to bring your own weapon if you prefer!

Can I stay longer?

Of course you can also extend your stay in South Africa! You are welcome to stay with us longer on the farm of Lentegeur Wildlife. We are happy to arrange this for you!

But an adjoining stay elsewhere in Africa is also possible. In that respect, South Africa has everything to offer you a wonderful and unforgettable holiday in every way! Think of the famous Kruger Park, Cape Town on the wonderful South African coast, but also the beautiful Drakensberg mountain range with the highest peaks of South Africa can be interesting additional destinations.
